Comments |
Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI/PstI--8.1, 2.7; EcoRI--5.2, 1.9 (doublet), 0.7, 0.6; HindIII--8.0, 1.5, 1.1. The following microorganisms are suitable for recombination and plant-colonization: Pseudomonas, Agrobacterium, Rhizobium, Erwinia, Azotobacter, Azospirillum, Klebsiella, Alcaligenes and Flavobacterium. The coding sequence within the insert can be integrated into the chromosome of one of several plant-colonizing microorganisms to protect the colonized plant against insect pests. The complete coding sequence for the toxin is contained within an internal 4.6 kb HpaI-PstI fragment. |
